About Us 

In-House Advisory Group is a New York based legal support provider specializing in litigation, e-discovery, risk management, and general support for Japanese companies and their US subsidiaries. Since 2012, we have assisted our clients in successfully navigating some of the largest government investigations and civil cases ever brought against Japanese companies. Our group includes a network of specialist attorneys from multiple fields, as well as experts in technology, linguistics, forensic accounting, and intellectual property. Our aim is to provide exceptional service through the retention of talented specialists while devising the most efficient and affordable legal solutions possible for our clients.

Leadership

James O'Donoghue

James O'Donoghue is president and founder of In-House Advisory Group. He is a New York attorney with over 15 years’ experience representing public and private companies in complex commercial litigation cases, internal and government investigations, private transactions, and regulatory affairs. After launching In-House Advisory Group in New York in 2012, James expanded the service to Japan, establishing an office in Tokyo and providing document review and translation services for Japanese companies involved in U.S. litigation. James has managed several large-scale antitrust and patent infringement cases and has considerable experience responding to the Securities & Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, Department of Labor, and New York State Attorney General's Office. James speaks fluent Japanese and possesses broad knowledge of cross border legal issues, securities regulations, e-discovery, technology, and intellectual property.

Jeff  Sobel

Jeff Sobel serves as In-House Advisory Group’s Director of Global Business Development. Mr. Sobel is responsible for identifying and developing new opportunities to serve in-house legal departments, and to assist in the coordination of cross border projects. He has over 20 years’ experience in global business development, having begun his career working on global market entry and growth strategies at Thomson Reuters, before relocating to Brazil, where he launched and managed several Latin American subsidiaries of American companies. Jeff received an MBA in Global Management from the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Glendale, Arizona, and a bachelor's degree in International Business from Augsburg College in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is fluent in Portuguese and has conversational skills in Spanish and Japanese.

Mitsugi Hashimoto

Mitsugi Hashimoto is a graduate of Ritsumekan Law School where he specialized on Labor and Constitutional Law. Prior to joining In-House Advisory Group, he served as a judicial clerk in the Tokyo civil ward office. He has over 5 years experience conducting document review and due diligence for cross border matters, including antitrust investigations, patent infringement, internal investigations, and general commercial litigation. Mr. Hashimoto's work involves research and due diligence, document review, translation, and project management.
